ABX Air and ORION Team Up on Hardware

WILMINGTON, OH - June 15, 2004 - ABX Air, Inc., and ORION Rehabilitation Center, Inc., have entered into an agreement on a hardware-sorting project that both hope to find beneficial.

"We had a surplus of hardware—screws, bolts, etc.—that our technicians generated as they worked," explained Ron Flint, Manager of Aircraft Stores for ABX Air. "After some discussion with ORION, we felt sorting this hardware back into unique types and sizes was something they could accomplish for us."

Miscellaneous aircraft hardware is collected in bins at ABX as technicians are done with jobs. This hardware is then quarantined until such time as it can be sorted. Over time, this has accumulated to approximately 1,000 pounds of hardware.

"What they are doing for us is separating the hardware into similar groupings, bagging it and returning it to ABX. The hardware is then put through a final sort and receiving inspection before being returned to stock," said Flint. "It is still usable, and can be returned to the in-stock bins once it is separated."

"ORION is glad to be doing more business with ABX Air, Inc.," said Jeff Foland, Workshop Director for ORION. "We've had a great relationship for many years, yet it's exciting to be considered for such a unique contract. Orion employees always appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate their versatility, and thank ABX for being supportive business partners."

The project is expected to last several months, until the backlog of hardware mix is sorted, bagged, and returned to stock at ABX Air.

Prior to DHL's purchase of Airborne Express, ORION had assembled sales and marketing kits for Airborne Express. Last year DHL consolidated that operation with another vendor.
