WILMINGTON, OH-July 14, 2004 - The ABX Air Relay For Life team raised more than $50,000 by this year's closing ceremony, making them one of the top teams from Ohio. ABX Air was the top team in the county overall, as well as in their division of Large Corporations.

"We had great support from ABX employees and a super effort from our team members," said Angie Poppaw, one of ABX's Team Captains. "We worked all year with different fund raisers and had a lot of success."

This year's ABX Team included 15 employees from several departments. Fundraisers throughout the year included pancake breakfasts, dress-down days, a used book sale, a spaghetti dinner, a rummage sale and more. Donations to the American Cancer Society from employees during the 2003 annual Fall Charity Drive are also added to the team's funds raised.

The ABX Team earned recognition at the Relay event in several categories. It received the award for most Luminary sales at the Clinton County Relay event. Team member David Allen finished second in the Miss Relay event. The ABX Team was presented with a Purple Team award for the second year in a row, setting it apart as one of the top 10 teams in the nation. Additionally, ABX Air serves as a Platinum Sponsor for the event.

"It is a cause our employees are very emotional about, and they get behind it," said Tom Poynter, Senior Vice President of Ground Operations. "They are the ones that make it happen, and we are very proud of their efforts to defeat cancer, support our people and families that have been touched by this disease, and be a strong part of our community."

raised nearly $60,00 to date.

As Relay events continue through the summer, more teams will contribute to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life fund. In the fall, the national organization will recognize top teams in the state and nationwide. Last year, the ABX Air team had the fourth largest team total in the U.S.

Teams start their fund-raising year on September 1 and continue with events through the year with totals being final by August 31 of the following year.
